MOMarCEt project – Mothers Action to Redesign Circular Economy for Tomorrow, implemented by SHE – Society for Help & Empowerment, Challedu, and the National Business Development Network – Bulgaria within the framework of the Erasmus+ Programme, is an innovative initiative focusing on the reintegration of mothers into the labor market, the promotion of gender equality and entrepreneurship, and the development of green entrepreneurial skills, actively contributing to environmental protection.
The baby and childcare industry leaves a significant environmental footprint. Every year, billions of disposable diapers and wet wipes end up as waste, placing a serious burden on the environment. Their production requires vast amounts of natural resources, such as wood pulp, plastic, and petroleum-based materials, while also contributing to greenhouse gas emissions. The same applies to the global toy market. These facts highlight the urgent need for more conscious choices and for a meaningful transition toward sustainable and circular solutions.
At the same time, data from the European Commission reveal a striking inequality: women remain underrepresented in Europe’s business and economic landscape, accounting for only 30% of entrepreneurs and 32% of economic leaders, while just 18.4% of startup founders are women.
MOMarCEt project responds to these challenges by offering an innovative approach that empowers mothers with green and entrepreneurial skills. Its goal is to support them in redefining their role in the labor market and actively contributing to the shaping of a more sustainable and circular baby and childcare industry, while fostering environmental awareness and responsible choices.
